Proskauer and Orrick Make Big Play in Charlotte’s Finance Market
In a recent Law.com article, Margie Grossberg, founder of Benchmark Legal Search Partners, said the entry of two major firms into Charlotte underscores the city’s growing importance in finance.
“Finance innovation is key right now. To have two firms open up offices in this [banking] hub is a real commitment,” Margie said.
Am Law 50 firms Proskauer Rose and Orrick are opening new offices in Charlotte with lateral partners from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. Orrick has launched a Charlotte office with three partners from a world-class eight partner team specializing in collateralized loan obligations, while Proskauer launched with a four-partner leveraged finance team. Grossberg noted that these attorneys bring significant client followings and top-tier expertise.
“There’s not a ton of supply, but there’s a lot of demand. This brings in a whole new offering,” she said.
Charlotte, the nation’s second-largest financial center, already hosts numerous Big Law and regional firms. The addition of Proskauer and Orrick positions both firms to compete aggressively for finance clients in the city.
